What if you could have the dynamo energy of a start-up in an established company?

Listen, a start-up is fun—they’ve got a great vibe and you can make impact on the ground floor—but let’s face it, they can be a little chaotic. What if you could have that can-do start-up energy in an established company that deals with the likes of Pepsi, Coke, Boeing, and Rolls Royce? Get ready to do your happy dance, because this little unicorn of a company is real, and they’re in the market for someone special.

Our client is looking for a JavaScript programmer, but they don’t want just any developer. This will be their very first Senior Node.js hire, so this lucky duck will get to help mould the company’s backend JavaScript architecture and approach. They’re looking for someone who can establish best practices and have a tangible impact on architectural decisions as they’re made. No wallflowers here—you’re the go-to for all things JS, and you’re chuffed to tackle the challenge!

Located in Canary Wharf, this company prides itself on an outstanding corporate culture with a team ethos that celebrates creativity and innovation. In that spirit, they hold regular Hacker Days where employees are encouraged to prototype and build new features that they think would be a slam-dunk. When was the last time your boss asked what you thought the company was missing?

So, who is the company with small-time start-up vibes and big developer energy? The client is an international company with a knack for making recruitment functions a breeze. Their reach is jaw-dropping—over 80% of all UK job ads are posted through their servers—and their prowess means that employers connect with top candidates in a fraction of the time. What does that mean for you? A sandbox of data waiting to be played with, and you’re holding a shovel and a pail. Dig in!

Key skills and experience

The company’s just started to migrate their existing software over to Node.js, so there’s not a precise list of skills and experience, but you’ll get a gold star for being able to demonstrate experience with:

  • Deploying Node.js applications to AWS (Lambda, Fargate, etc)
  • Express or similar application framework
  • React / Angular.js / Vue.js
  • Sequelize or similar ORM
  • GraphQL or Apollo
  • TypeScript
  • Integration and unit tests

Are you the JS champion our client is looking for? If so you can either start the application process using the form on this page, or you can simply drop us an email ([email protected]) quoting jobref OSC1230.
